Re: AW: [iPad] VERY OT: pet question/Kris

Our rescue calls it a "home visit." It's all semantics. We just want to make sure the dog gets a good home with a good family. And you can pick up a lot just by talking with and interacting with a family in their home. Does Mom want the dog but Dad is a little hostile to the idea? Do they want a Rottie puppy from working lines and have a toddler or elderly parent with a walker? Have they ever trained a big dog? Do they work 13 hour shifts and the puppy will stay in the crate without a break? Or maybe they are really nice people but the yard is not fenced and they want an sight hound.
None of that means they won't get a puppy, but maybe there needs to be some discussion.
I worked 12 hour shifts 3 days a week but my husband only worked 8 hours, the puppy was in the kitchen with a baby gate and our vet tech came in for noon play and potty break.

The point is, Jim, there is a pretty big difference-to me, anyway--between"
visiting" someone to see if you think they live the way you want your pup to
live and "inspecting" their homes. I have been visited by several breeders,
but don't think I have ever been "inspected" by anybody. I have also
visited prospective buyers but never inspected them, either
