Ok, Map quest says 7 hrs 9 minutes by turnpike, but it goes through downtown Miami, so traffic can be a bear. And have you seen the humongous bridge from Miami to the Keys? Looks terrifying.
Traffic anytime in Florida can be a challenge. I4, a major highway from Tampa to Orlando, sometimes is stop-and-go with cars hardly making it to 25 MPH. Accidents, cops slow the roads.
Usually we end up settling in the Ft. Lauderdale area and pass on the long bridge drive. But there is also flying.
