I got a Linux TuxDrive from KS to play with -- a wee USB that boots into
Mint desktop; it also has room left to store stuff & install new s/w so you
have a completely independent setup -- nothing needed/left on the "host"
machine (mine is Win7), though there is access to it if you want (like for
storage), so you can take it from machine to machine with not trouble. It
works on Macs but I think some models have some problems. You have to be
able to boot directly from USB.

It is an interesting concept.

I purchased a StormFly off of Kickstarter which allows you to boot into
Ubuntu from a Mac or most PCs directly to a USB. If a tablet had a USB port
and the right type of processor this would work I think.
