Sounds rather like my TuxDrive, which will boot directly from the USB into
Linux Mint -- though you do have to press a key during boot-up to get to
the Boot Option Menu.

your hard drive. It boots into Ubuntu. It also allows you to access a shared
part of the USB.
The second OS is the native one on your computer.
