While I don't begrudge anybody else their fantasies, I would hope that
this would all be totally optional.

Sounds way too complicated for what many of us bought iPads for in the
first place.

It also sounds like it would just be easier/better for Apple to make a
notebook with a touchscreen which can be swiveled so it can act as a
tablet. Use an SSD drive so there would be no moving parts and the body
could be made thinner, then iOS could be dispensed with, OSX would be
all that would be needed, the device would have terrific battery life
and we wouldn't need to decide what we would have to sync to use on the run.
