Re: [iPad] OT iPod Touch help

I have a 2nd gen Touch (MB533LL) running 4.2.1 (8C148).
Nothing wrong with using an older device, if it does what you want!
I still use mine daily, though I also have an assortment of newer devices.

If you hook up to itunes, it will tell you if there's an ios update for it
or if it's "up to date". You can click on "check for update" to confirm it.

It would also show on the home screen settings icon (though I don't know for
sure if it shows updates that aren't to the latest-latest-ios even if the
device needs one that's earlier).

If you can't find an app that does what you want, you may find some MP3
tracks or a CD you can rip to do the same thing -- just d/l/rip & put in a
playlist. I think there's a way to eliminate the gaps between tracks but
I've never actually done it.

Is this to mask noise or to help him sleep? If for sleep, try various
relaxing music selections, there's a lot out there (I get a lot of these
things from Amazon, where I spend way too much $!)

Subject: [iPad] OT iPod Touch help

My husband (the Luddite) has an older iPod Touch. It says model MC086LL,
Version 4.2.1 (8C148). I wanted to install a White Noise program on it (he
has a dock with speakers) but every one I try either says it won't work on
this device or it needs iOS version 4.3. I don't know if it's possible to
update to 4.3 or not, and I can't find anywhere in settings to look for an
update. Anyone have an idea?
Thanks,
Julie
