I did the app updates with my iPad connected to my computer through iTunes
but the updates are still showing up on my iPad. Guess I will just have to
wait to see if they finally pop up so I can do the updates on my iPad too.

From what I'm hearing elsewhere, it just seems to be "something going
around" with the on-device app store.
I'd just ignore it & wait it out a few days.
Or you could try d/l directly to iTunes library & syncing that way.
