The only time I tried to connect my iPad to a different computer than the one I normally sync to it asked me if I really wanted to do this because everything on the iPad would be lost and it would be wiped clean. Someone told me this was for copyright reasons. I said no. I thought you had to copy all the data (music, etc) to the new computer, let it wipe the iPad then put the stuff back into iTunes. I would be very interested to find out differently.
