The whole idea of the cloud is to keep stuff off the local device.  Theoretically, it should need very little storage.  Probably not a bad idea to try to keep plenty of free space on the iDevice, even when the hd is only 16GB.  On the other hand, the cloud is still slow, erratic, and undependable.

I remember way back when Sun was trying hard to push the cloud - 1980's?  That was much too soon, and thirty years later it's probably still too soon, alas.  In some things, technology has moved light years, but in others it's still disappointingly near the starting gate.  More a political than a technical problem, but still.

Humans are long on daydreaming and short on courage and determination.  We do quick fixes, then lose interest and drop the ball.
