Re: [iPad] iOS 7- should I do it or wait a while?

I think I needed to have something like 5GB freed up for the download and installation of iOS7 to work, and, like David says, then that space was free again.  I have noticed that several of the bigger apps (especially games) also need quite a bit of space freed up in order to update.

As to being happy with the new OS, I was happy that it updated without any issues at all on any of my devices (except that it took forever on a couple of them thanks to me wanting to be the first person in the country with the update--LOL!, one of which I updated with iTunes, as Jim suggested (since I can't get WiFi to work on it).   I think it's rather pretty, although I was by no means dissatisfied with the last one, and nobody has told me they thought it looked like something they wanted to get ASAP.

There are all kinds of new little features that you will probably discover as you go along, and I have a feeling that the new iOS will slowly grow on most of us, but there aren't any new things that will cause anybody any grief.  At least I haven't run across any.  Except for the issue with the fingerprint security (which only pertains to devices that can use a fingerprint), I haven't come across any bugs that have to be worked out, and sooner or later updates to apps will require iOS7, so why wait to get it now?

It only needs that extra space for the installation -- after it's
installed you have that much space (or just about that much) available
again.

I wouldn't say I'm exactly "happy" with the upgrade, but I also won't
say that I hate it.  I have more of a "meh, why did they bother? Why not
just fix what needed fixing?  Why all the extra expense changing the
appearance so dramatically?" feeling.

And I have not heard a single person say "Wow, I was holding off buying
an iPhone because I didn't like the way it looked, but now with iOS7 I'm
heading right to the store to buy one because it's so great looking!"

I haven't found all that much that I have needed to "get my head around"
-- I installed the upgrade and then went on using my iDevices just as
before.
