You may wish to consider the TomTom app if you've got a GPS enabled iPad and also the "You Need a Map" app as well. Both are quite useful for the traveler.

Just took a look at both apps above. I don’t see the need for either, given the detail and functionality of the maps app that came with my ipad, certainly no need to spend $50. for the TomTom app, and I don’t see any added benefits from the other app, “ You Need a Map”, either. But thank you for pointing them out. I guess for my needs Apple did it right the first time with their provided app for my iPad3 3G model.
