Well, you sure wouldn’t be too happy hugging her right now. She is all smelly… with vomit, blood, and God knows what else and we can’t even think of bathing her for probably a week. She still has an IV catheter in her leg ( just in case ) and four rather sizable drain holes in her abdomen. Still, she’s getting plenty of attention from us.

For those of you who were following the situation, Lily was brought home this morning. Unfortunately she developed a temperature that was climbing again ….104… we took her back to the Vet’s this afternoon. Further examination due to the passage of the past few hours it was confirmed that Lily did indeed have a raging case of Mastitis. Horrible infection had become readily apparent and those infection sites were drained and drains were put in place. When she woke up from the anesthesia she was immediately feeling better…and her temperature was significantly lower.
She is home again with us and finally I can feel safe in saying the prognosis is good. Vet said she will probably be like a new dog tomorrow.
