Re: AW: AW: [iPad] VERY OT: pet question/Kris

No ma'am!!!!! Truly not as I am not inspecting anyone's home...

But most importantly, I just couldn't sell my pups. I took in a stray dog and her pups when I was a teen, much to my families displeasure. I was heartbroken when one pup didn't survive and had what southerners call a "hissy fit" when momma said I couldn't keep them all. I behaved so badly, refused to eat, wouldn't go to school because I feared they would be gone when I came home. Became a terrible child, didn't go to church... God's creatures just couldn't be separated from their mom and siblings (I was young, I am telling you all my young logic) etc...

Bottom line we had 5 dogs for YEARS. My folks weren't happy but in the end they loved each one. I went off to college with 4 of them still living, the mom died during my Freshman year and the others lived long lives practically taking over my room :)

No breeding isn't for the faint of heart, nor for me. Those of you who do, great. I know I don't have the makeup to do so.

Thank goodness there are breeders who do their best to breed healthy, happy kittens or puppies, who give them a lot of love and a GOOD start in life and who can also manage to give them up so that another person can have a wonderful pet/companion. Yes, it is a business, albeit rarely a very profitable one--trust me: you will never get rich raising purebred kittens--and it is not easy to give up a little animal, even in exchange for money. But I do contend that a breeder puts a lot into the raising of the babies and should be reimbursed for his or her efforts. I am talking about a reasonable price, by the way, one that is justified, and not a "small fortune" that is way out of line.
