Re: [iPad] WWDC

In my opinion, if iOS8 looks the same as 7, but more under the hood, if there was one or two niceties that made life easier thats a plus. And as long as nothing else gets in the way, the likelihood is that using some functions will be a little easier and a little more efficient

Yeah, maybe I'm overreacting.  Thanks for the reality check.

But, still, I think the instinctive path for developers is complexification, and they'd be well served by someone letting them know what older folk need.  Especially now, as their market continues to gray.

An eighty-year-old friend recently had his point-and-click film camera die, and I gave him a bare-bones, "simple" Coolpix.  With a hundred-page manual.  Not good.  He never made peace with his Windows laptop, but mail is a breeze on his iPad.  Beyond mail, though, even the iPad is a mystery for him.  He's extremely intelligent, but he doesn't have the flexible mind of a kid.  A thousand options are far too many, especially when an accidental key tap can mess up a lot of basic stuff.

I dont agree. Every year there are "200+" new features. iOS doesn't get laden with settings screens everywhere, it looks the same. No one uses all features, and as long as they don't get in the way, thats a good solution. This release is no different to any other in adding features.

Hmm.  Nothing there gets a rise out of me.  Sounds like a lot more busyness, more stuff to do, more commands to remember.  I'd love less stuff and more simplicity.

Bag, humbug :o)
