those are shortcuts or "favorites". I think you can dispose of them the same way you would an unwanted app. just press and hold till they start to shake and then delete by pressing the 'X'.

Between the Internet address and the tabs, I have an area filled with words like Disney, Yahoo, Apple, Clambake and Scientology. They are active and will take me to a site.
I want them GONE! How do I go about doing this, please?
