My apple supplied lightning cable is in shambles. As in wires coming through the housing just like geez all the mobile cables since my PowerBook. Maybe I'm just a brute. But really I'm a gentle giant and cables just wear out. I should use more duct tape.

Those cables have a "lightning" plug the smaller plug and I think the 3 needs the wider plug. I have had bad luck with inexpensive cables coming apart.
