I'm using the free app and I'm on level 60 something. I just got a second fish tank and now I have to fill it up again with "stuff". I haven't paid for anything yet, just use virtual money. I think I did get a notice once to buy the app for 6.99 and I deleted the app and then reinstalled it.

Did you buy the app or just use the free one, Pat?  The free one only let me go so far and then stopped unless I would buy the app for $6.99. Did you have this happen to you?
