I have a book written by (I think) a vet named Fox-if I can locate it I can
give you more spec. info. In any case, the writer also says to speak the
cat's language, so that means meowing, growling/snarling, and
hisssssssssing! And it actually works, too! My only problem with meowing
is that I have no idea what I'm saying to the cat, nor do I understand his
or her reply! LOL!!! With hissing, it's a different story. That's pretty
clear. The loud "no" that you use with your dogs, Jim, also works pretty
well with a cat, but not always. Unfortunately. ;-)

You have to "speak" a language they understand.
I sometimes growl or snarl. When I say "No!" it sounds like a loud
discipline bark. We teach puppies not to bite by slipping their lips over
those sharp little baby teeth. They learn that biting people makes their
mouth hurt, but biting toys doesn't.
