Got Photo Transfer App last night, works fine. Its an FTP based method.
 
 
Tried a few trial versions of Win software that sees everything on the iDevice, but some didnt see the phone, others were klutzy. One (Diskaid) was good, but all my many photo albums were not in any order. 
 
At the end of the day what Millie and I wanted (copy albums on iPad to PC) cannot be done on Apple, only the camera roll. The option apart from extra SD cards or taking a laptop, is to get a third party app, or a third party desktop software.
