That's a very constructive idea, Jenny.  I'm glad I found something that would work in the end.  I have had the same problems with jacks that you did and have also resorted to files and jewelers' saws.

Although JOBY may not be able to do anything for your case, *I* would actually email them and tell them about the adapters not fitting. They may do a subtle revision on their cases to amend this problem. or, they may even support you and offer a new case if you want. No harm at ALL in asking.

Very similar to the first gen iPhone, some of the mic-ed headphone jacks were still not deep enough to connect the stereo and the mic. I've had to file down the plastic around the earphone jack to make them work. Of course this was back in 2007-2008, things are fixed now in the earphone jacks from the manufacturers... but this was the way I got my adapters to work.
