Re: [iPad] was:Hello?/now headphone woes with Joby Ori

Hi Jim!

I was thinking the same thing.  No new messages!  I have been super busy the past couple of weeks with extra paperwork, cat shows, kittens, and shopping around for something.  Here's the issue:  Pius and I watched a movie on my iPad (used Handbrake to get it converted and then put it into iTunes and synched--my spell checker insists that is how to spell that word!-- and it worked great except for one thing.  Pius is more concerned about bothering the neighbors than I am, so we were constantly changing the volume on the Jambox and driving each other nuts.  I went about bought a double jack so we could each have our own headphones (with independent volume control).  So of course I had to buy those headphones, too!   But with my Gorilla Ori case on the iPad, the danged double jack was too thick and wouldn't go in, so I was faced with sawing off part of the plastic, not a very appealing solution.   We ended up taking the iPad out of the case to at least try out the headphones, but that wasn't a good solution, either, because I like the Ori's solidity and height.  Yesterday I actually found the perfect solution!  So I have two recommendations for those of you who might want to watch a movie or listen to music using your iPad or iPhone or other MP3 device with head/earphones and share with two or more people.  Griffen makes a little connector called SmartShare.  It consists of the 3.5mm jack to put in the iPad plus two jacks (each with independent volume control!!--if only I had found this first, I wouldn't have had to buy the two headphones with volume control!) for the headphones!  With the volume control on the jacks, you can use any headphones or earphones you want, which is fantastic!  So that is what I bought, and the jack that goes into the iPad is not round but rectangular (so to speak) and it fits perfectly into the iPad plug with the Joby case on!

Solution number two: for families or friends, Belkin makes a nice little connector that works with, IIRC, five or six headphones!  And it also has a jack for the iPad that has a very small diameter, so it would also work with the iPad plus Joby case!  You can even plug in another MP3 device to mix music.

Hope this is of interest to some of you and that you all have a a great day!

Carlee

I notice I haven't seen ANY new messages for nearly 24 hours.
