No. The printers should make the printers backwards compatible! Apple made a new product. If you really want your new apple product to be backwards compatible with an obtuse amount of printers you dont know apple. Yea. I get that it sucks. It won't change that apple won't change to be how you want. Yea. Eventually they will ve out of favor. Cool. For now. They make products ppl want by making them their way and adhering to select few forward thinking and many times self serving standards. But standards they are. Apple made AirPrint so printers could print. Some choose to. Birch at epson cuz your 8 year old $60 inkjet won't print on a $600 brand new iPad and they'll say a brand new epson would go eith that perfectly. But don't botch at apple when they give manufacturer some of the best hardware APIs in the planet to work with and thru choose to be picky about how they go about their business of compatibility.

As a programmer and maven in the computer field for 25+ years, I am aware there are lots of innovative ways to make it happen, and make customers who are using the heck out of their iPad be able to print without having to own other computers to use as a "middle-man".
