Re: [iPad] Re: Too many printer apps available... which to choose?

I thought you wanted to print to your home printer from anywhere in the world. My bad. I gave an answer to something that didn't exist.

Yea. I was using the cloud when it was called compuserve so I get the this is old hat it's marketing.

I'm not sure what google means by their FAQ either.

If you want printing from your ipad these days it will be marketed as a cloud printing app for your iOS device, most likely.

I use printopia to print to my printer. My printer had no print server so I use my Mac. Unless you have one of the few cloud printing out of the box printers you will need dedicated print server to print from your iPad or a device to act as one. On some printers this can be an apple tv. On old crappy ones like mine I need my Mac to act as a server.

Apparently your situation is different. Wish my thoughts could help. Sorry. Maybe next time my blathering will shed light instead of spew a cloud lololol

I am not so sure about Google Print, KM. I do not know what Google means by "Cloud Ready Printers." My printer documentation does not mention 'Cloud Ready' and apparently, the only help Google provides on their main CP pages is to refer to my printer info.

"Apps that work with Google Cloud Print" does not help me much. But again, I could care less about the cloud because I cannot use it and it is market hype for doing something I have doing since my Palm Pilot days.

Apparently, you also need to buy and install PrintCentral Pro, an iOS app. Not looked into it because I never need Cloud printing. I can print to my printer using any browser, so why worry about it.
