I believe Haunted Hotel and Death at Fairthing Point are what's known as Hidden Object Games. There are several types of HO games and there are many HO games out there in iPad Land. I think Big Fish does the best job with this genre. That said, search the web for this: iPad, hidden object games. There are some amazing games out there that are stunningly beautiful.

Some are simple and easy; just find the objects in the scene and move on.

Some are story games that unfold as you progress; the goal is to solve the mystery and the mystery is almost impossible to fathom.

There is one I played that was a real bear. Cannot recall the title, however. I have looked at several others. The titles you are asking about might be on my iPad, I can't remember.

Generally, you needed to visit scenes multiple times to use tools you assemble from all over the place. These tools would open this and that so you can get clues to proceed. Overlook one clue or part and you might end up in scene 8 and be totally lost. You are not told about the required parts or clues because it happened early in the game.

As complicated to play as my disjointed reply is to read.

One such game required coins to operate a vending machine. Once you got the required coin, you could get a ticket that was required to take a train. The hard part was finding the required coin. It was hidden in a scene that offered no clue that some required coin was there. You found in in the forth or fifth scene and you then returned to an earlier point to use that coin. Whew!

I am a fan of these games. I might suggest that you Google your game title and look for Walkthroughs. This is cheating, but sometimes required because some games are ever so vastly complicated and things need to be done that you would never consider.

Whew.
