Oh I'm glad you finally have power. We had a long power outage about 7years ago from an ice storm. It was after that we invested in a whole house generator. It it connected to our furnace and sits outside next to the air conditioners. It was expensive but oh so worth it for our piece of mind. It comes on automatically in just a minute after the power goes off. You might consider it. We are older and not up to "roughing it" much anymore.
