> Is it within the courts authority to tell the FBI to help Apple enhance Apple's security?
I do not know.
Courts have already ruled that the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution, which limits the government's ability to LIMIT speech by individuals and corporations, also limits the government's ability to COMPEL speech.
AND have ruled that computer programming — code — IS "speech" for this purpose.
On the other hand, a main purpose of the Constitution is to protect the people from the government, not vice versa.
