It also seems that scrolling through the news feed on Facebook on safari is less draining on the battery than scrolling with the app.

Yea. I think so. That's my educated guess. My battery life goes down even when Facebook isn't running in the background. m.facebook.com works great however.

So is this why my 6+ went down last night from 75% to 56% with nothing running in the background? I'm not especially happy with that.

I refuse to install the app. It hogs battery even when not in use.

I only use FaceBook via the safari. It works as expected.
