Kris, Apple is a publicly traded corporation. It's sole reason for being is to make money.
If its CEO takes an apparently non-business public position, you can be sure it's calculated to benefit the bottom line.
When Steve Jobs was alive and heading up the corporation, his cranky charisma often obscured that fact, but it was very much in play, nonetheless.
