What about an FM transmitter?  I use to plug one into my iPod for use in the car.

I'm sort of doing that now, using a generation-one Apple TV, which has analog-out ports, but that means an extra piece of equipment taking up what should be book space.  The Airport Express would need a DAC, which is still more stuff hogging shelf space.  It would be nice to have just two little boxes there, with one power cord.

Nothing's perfect :0)  I'm happy to have what's there.

I need AirPlay audiophile-quality bookshelf speakers.  None of the AirPlay speakers so far are up to snuff.
