I did much the same, and when it wouldn't remember and keep working for more than a couple of days, I gave up on it.
Until (1) iOS 7.1, and (2) a suggestion to record the *SAME* finger (that I use mostly) at different angles — like almost straight up-and-down, and also about 30º off vertical.
It has worked faultlessly since.
Which is why I wondered what 7.1.1 was going to do for me.
