Re: [iPad] Re: OT: TV Recommendation Request

I wouldn't by Sony as well.  We have a Panasonic 55 inch plasma and a LG 55 inch plasma.  If I was going to purchase a TV today it would be LED.  Samsung, Panasonic, LG, or Visio.    After the Super Bowl is a great time for open box buys at Best Buy.  People buy a big screen, watch the game and return it.

BTW.  LG makes most of the flat screens used by all.  Google top ten TV's.  Panasonic has two in the top ten.  Samsung is second.  LCD screens are still good.  Not expensive as LED.  Plasma has always been highly rated.  And not that expensive these days.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, a few years ago I outfitted my entire AV system with Sony... 60" TV, VHS Player/Recorder, DVD Player, Dolby 5.1 Receiver, Dual Cassette Player... the whole nine yards!

Within 5 years, the TV was gone, VHS was hungry and ate everything inserted, DVD player was fritzed. It didn't happen all at once, that would have led me to thinking it was a power surge or something... no the components just started dropping-off one by one.

Bottom line, I'll never buy Sony! Their tag line is truly applicable: Sony the one and only! It was my one and only that's for sure!!!

My 2¢
