Exactly Elizabeth. Then US Robotics came up with a 2400 baud. Gosh we were really smoking. Not that long ago.
Now we stream movies. FCOL.

Dial-up modems. Those were the days! LOL
E in Long BeachSent from my iPad2Coleen and I took our Motorhome to a Foretravel Rally last week. One of the tests I wanted to accomplish was using the Verizon 4G iPad as a hotspot for internet. I am pleased to report it works well. Her Windows laptop and my MacBook Air hooked up immediately. Although we were in a 3G area the speed was still decent. I do like the long battery life over the MiFi 4301L. I could have plugged it into coach power, but didn't feel the need.
The RV Park where we stayed had a very good WiFi (free) so we didn't use the iPad much. After selling my two Verizon MiFi's and the savings in data charges and other adjustments made to our cell service will pay for the iPad in ten months. Nine months left actually. Since the iPad has no contract for data and the MiFi did, it makes a difference in expense. Plus we only used the MiFi to supplement WiFi as needed six months a year.FWIW. Coleen is a insurance broker and it's essential she have a reliable/fast internet connection when we travel. Vast improvements have been made in RV Park WiFi, but some are still poor and some can get overloaded at times. The iPad fills the bill as I hoped it would. Now we just need more 4G areas.Does anyone remember the 300 baud modems of days gone by?Later.Jerry & Coleen ElkinsLWRV CommunityWhitney, Tx 76692
