Right, it's whatever AT&T wants to call by that name. I have Uverse dsl but it's copper, not optical. Patrick

While all well & good, some areas only have certain speeds available. You would think, for example, that *I* could get FIOS, but NO! Because my house is what? 3,000 feet away from that sort of base or some farked up excuse, we can NOT get FIOS or Premium speeds. I can AFFORD more, but it is not available here on my street..I have AT&T u-verse (Internet, tv and home phone (if we want it), I'm trying to get AT&T to replace our 3.5y old router, but they keep saying they can't. "Let's try one more thing..."So, it's a choice of AT&T or Time Warner. Bloody ridiculous. We are not in the boonies. From my little technological bit of heaven, the new iPad!Looks fairly modest, speed-wise. Even their fastest is less than what we get from Time-Warner, and that can seem pretty pokey.Consider getting the fastest internet service you can afford, maybe dropping cable TV to pay for it.
- ipad -We have DSL from ATT. They have just in the last few months come out with UVerse which they say we can get. We have not decided whether or not to go that way. I haven't actually figured out if the uVerse would be as fast or faster than my DSL (I have the highest speed DSL). Anybody know the answer?

I have DSL but could also get cable-internet (I have it for TV).
Can't have satellite because of condo rules (not sure I'd want it anyway,
with cable available).

I love Apple TV. We can't get cable where we live and too many trees for
satellite so we use it to watch Netflix. It is one of the few devices so far
that can get captions from Netflix, this is important to us especially for
British TV and movies as we often have a hard time understanding them. We
can also mirror our iPad to share pictures etc.
