They are not IN two places.
As much as these image files can be said to be SOMEwhere, they are in an Import folder.
They also have a label/pointer attached to them saying what named "album" you have chosen to collect them in.
ONE image in ONE place with a LABEL.
When you direct the iPad to show you the album with that label, it "collects" all the images to which you have attached that label, and displays them AS IF they were in their own separate folder of the file system.
Obviously, only holding actual existence in one place, when you delete an image from that one place, it is no longer anywhere to be found on the iPad....
