Re: [iPad] Re: What does "unlocked" mean?

On Verizon (I'm pretty certain) and sprint (I know for sure) the phone must be white listed first. Can't just toss the sim in.  They have to load the MEID into the system.

Ok, so just to understand, if I buy a phone from Apple, and pay full price, I can go to either AT&T or Verizon and buy a SIM card and pay for their service?
Carol

I expect to be replacing an existing phone on AT&T shortly.

I expect to go to my local Apple Store, buy the iPhone using Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program, pay monthly payments to Apple, and simply swap the nano-SIM out of the old iPhone and into the new one, and then follow the on-screen directions on the iPhone to activate it.

No visit to an AT&T Store at all.
