Really? Not a monopolist? When was the last time you, without
jailbreaking your iOS device, which is a practice that Apple disavows
and discourages, were able to buy from an independent 3rd party and
Apple didn't make any money on the deal?

Sounds like a monopoly to me. Perhaps a benign monopoly like the old,
pre-breakup AT&T was, but a monopoly nonetheless. But because the
marketplace is so small government agencies don't care. Yet.

Microsoft's only problem with their monopoly convictions was that they
had gotten too big and too prevalent and had used great marketing
strategies (read that as "include this or else") to become the world's
dominant computing operating system. If it hadn't pushed so hard there
wouldn't have been a problem.

Which Apple learned from -- remain a smaller niche of the overall
computing marketplace and you can still get rich but not draw government
attention.
