When the IMAP server gets out of sync with your device(s), it will err on the side of caution and, thus not allow remote changes until everything can get sorted. This happens to my Yahoo Plus account 2-3 times a year. I fix it by logging into either webmail or Yahoo's native mail app, then make my desired change there.

At times when I delete an email after reading it says the message cannot be moved to the trash. Does anyone have any idea why this happens? It does not happen all the time, only once in a while.
