Think of Camera Roll as ALL photos taken on the device. They do need to stay somewhere. You can ignore them, treating Camera Roll as the device photo database and just use the album fr viewing. Delete the photo from Camera Roll if you do not want it

I don't really understand the reason for doing it that way. If I put an image in an album I would really not rather see it in the camera roll and/or photo stream also even if they are not duplicates.

There's no duplication, only one copy which is "aliased" to albums that you put them into.On Feb 20, 2013, at 1:45 PM, Judith <pooh4jvn@pacbell.net> wrote:There has probably been this discussion before but I am still in a quandary about photos, photo albums and deleting photos. I have been putting some of my photos in specific galleries for instance "cats". Is there anyway at all to delete a photo from the camera roll and not have it deleted in the album "cats"? I don't want to use up space with what looks like duplicate photos. If I put it in the "cats" gallery I would like to remove it from the camera roll.Fair winds and happy bytes, Dave Flory, Flower Mound, TXSpeak softly and study Aikido, and you won't need to carry a big stick.
