Thanks everyone for the useful suggestions. I will try some of them to be sure. One eBook reader that I found after a brief search is Bluefire which can be found for free on iTunes apps. It is capable of reading every one of my ePub books no matter what the source(mostly B&N and Google) and the books can be dragged into iTunes to work. So far, I have not been able to get it to read a PDF book from Google and one book from iTunes, however. Thus far, the former only works on the Google Play Books reader for the iPad and on a Nook Color via Adobe Digital Editions. The iTunes book opens so far only in iBooks which is where it was purchased. Hopefully this is helpful to others out there with similar problems. Looks like I will continue to search as new ereaders become available.
