  I presume you are referring to this:

  > You can import only photo and video content taken with the built-in camera or captured on the device. You cannot import photo or video content synced from iTunes.
  
  They don't even make any reference to a 3rd category of content -- not captured on the device (camera, screen copy, images from Mail or Safari), and not imported from your computer -- but "captured" (imported) from an external camera.
  
  My advice is, in your own words, "try this".
  
  When *I* did, as I already stated, there were my Camera Connection Kit imports.
  
  > I find it interesting that the only pictures that show on "Camera Roll" on my iPad 3 are the ones taken with the iPad or saved from an email. The folders that I imported with iTunes do NOT appear in Camera Roll.
  
  "Interesting"? Well, maybe. 
  Not surprising, certainly.
