Re: [iPad] So what may be the future of apple tv?

I have been in tech support a LONG time and I would only say that to someone I knew well.

And online no one can see you smile or your demeanor, so calling anyone something that could insult them if not known to be a joke is risky.

I respect Jim very much, but I don't know him as well as I know say Just who I now feel more comfortable joking with both ways.

If he wants to call me a problem in jest, like my old dear friends do (as we banter both ways) then perhaps we have become better friends but I need to know he is jesting. Drop some smiles :D at key points for example. But I don't know him that well yet.

Me I just want AppleTV to become 10 x better and not the very mediocre to bad product I spent $100 bucks for. I will rarely use it to see NetFlix instead just using it for Airplay but not everyone buying it has an iPad, and my Mom is terrified of my iPad (I am wearing her down since she rarely can use the WinTel machine because she rarely gets desk time) and even if she was not terrified of the iPad it is with me a lot.

But that lousy remote and that clunky UI my Mom won't like. I am going to try to mate it with the hideous overwrought FIOS remote she has mastered due to StockHolme syndrome or just sheer persistence. The FIOS UI is clunky, full of cognitive friction, and areas of the UI a disaster (Pay Per View/Video on Demand is a nightmare I buy the movies if I can find them but they make it hard to do so) but the payoff high... The Apple TV is clunky UI for a pretty low payoff.

Being in the technical support business, I jokingly say to my users,
"It is one of two things:
1. A problem between the mouse and the chair or
2. A problem between the ears

That always gets a laugh when they realize both problems are them.

Of course I mean it as a joke to break the tension that often exists.
