A cool (albeit old-school) trick is too connect a security timer to the router's power cord. This is the type used for controlling your lights, so as to fool criminals when you're away on holiday. Set it to force a reboot of the router, once a day, during a time when you're unlikely to be using the network. This scheduled reboot acts as a "pre-emptive strike", heading off lock-ups and slow-downs that occur when you're either busy, or having fun...
