I still yearn for an iTunes light that just plays music for my Mac. Or adopt an iPad style suite. One for books one for music. One for store. One for video....

Like iTunes or not, most other phones have no software to sync your data. Android is taking advantage of people not realizing that their data should be backed up. The cloud is making this much less of an issue because most of your data is there. But for those that have local data, iTunes is wonderful to have to put the content on your device.
