Well, the iPad is rather versatile.
It may not be the device to write long texts on. But it's handy to
carry documents in and perhaps remove a typo.
Or as an e-reader.
It is great in acquiring images (still and moving) and (to some
extent) editing them.
You may have noticed a current thread with photographs.
It is great in several musical fields, like emulating instruments
(like uileann pipes).
Or as an iPod (even Walkman).
It is great for playing games.
We recently had a discussion on Mah Jongg games.
It is great for navigation, especially if you have one with 3G
(Internet over cell phone).
In short: everything for being away from home, but also for on the
couch.
Note: do get Dropbox (the free subscription) for exchanging files, and
perhaps your choice of social media.
