Oh I do believe the future is a hands free Siri operating environment. Definitely for the Apple TV, home kit, auto kit and iOS. 

That aside. My other point stands. If I need to compose a message quicker then open messages and click new and click the name then I can simply as Siri to do it for me. Therefore I can understand why they chose to have the message thread disappear when empty
