I guess you don't remember Apple deciding to switch from FireWire to usb then to 13 pin then to lightning with power huh? Or eliminating the floppy drive that angered many and they said spoke was stupid to do so same with the cd drive. This is the same. They are eliminating a port. A very old one. I think it's for the best.

I do think that the long term push is wireless so that may be Bluetooth
