> Does anyone know how to empty the cache on an iPad 1st generation? 0 bytes available on it. Can't do a thing with it. Searched everything and the only thing I see to possible try is iExplore which is a windows based feature that I have to pay for. This is my MIL's iPad and she doesn't do much with it except read and do crossword puzzles. Any help would truly be appreciated.

"Caches" are transient memory, i.e. volatile.
Shutting the iPad off completely (On/Off button held until the "Slide to power off" slider appears) should clear the iPad's memory cache.
There have been apps that free memory, but the one I have doesn't appear to be available now.
You might look into some of the system utilities in the App Store.
