Sometimes, things just need a really good clear-out!
And if a Restore doesn't work out, at least you can tell Apple so when you
take it in to the Genius Bar. I think they have even "deeper" fixes (they
brought back to life a couple of i-things that had bricked during an iOS
upgrade a while back).

I'd "wipe" it by doing a factory-restore in iTunes, not just deleting stuff
(even "everything") directly from the device.
