Finally, about time someone said "cats". All this on topic talk, geesh.

Actually I think she is right. This is an iPad group not an Apple group. iDevice users use iTunes for syncing/backup, and Apple provides this to Mac and Windows users. Yes, I am also a Windows user, but that is not the purpose of this post.
This forum is for iPad users, and related, which includes cats too of course!

IOS (the Apple code that makes everything work together) sometimes becomes befuddled and needs to be given a fresh start. Either resetting or rebooting will do that.

Tap the Home button twice rapidly (or swipe four fingers up the screen). You'll see a line of icons along the bottom of your screen representing the apps you've used most recently. Tap and hold any one of them. All of the icons will begin to wiggle and you'll see a red "-" in their top left corners. To "kill" - end - stop - remove - any of them, tap the "-". The icon representing that app will disappear - along with any problems it might have been causing you. Sounds like a lot of bother, but once you've done it a few times, you'll see that it takes a lot less time than resetting or rebooting the iPad.

Hold down the power switch (on the top right edge - little black button) until a white arrow in a red box appears on the screen with the words "slide to power off". Slide the arrow to power off your iPad. Wait until all screen activity has ended, then wait five seconds more, then hold down the power switch again, this time until a white Apple logo appears, then let the switch go.
