RE: [iPad] Re: 1st generation iPad won't charge

Thanks for the suggestions. Pete, I was using the charger that came with
the iPad, the 10 watt one. Carl, after the iPad was left charging over
night was when it would have an increase in charge of approx. 10%. There
was still around 70% of battery at this point. I did a reboot (held both
buttons until apple logo on screen) a couple of times, as well as a complete
reset from the settings>general>reset screen.

It's probably "planned obsolecence";-)

Are you connected to a USB socket that supplies a full 10 watts? Since it
trickle charges it almost sounds like you're connected to a port (socket)
that only supplies 5 watts.

1st generation iPad when the 2nd gen came out. It has worked flawlessly
over the years. Last week, all of a sudden, it does not recognize anything
plugged in to it's charge/data port. In other words, it does not take a
charge, or interface to a PC any longer. It's almost like the connector on
the iPad quit working. I have confirmed the cable that I was using is good,
and there has been no physical damage to the iPad. I have performed a
complete reset on the unit with no change. Something interesting is it will
take a "trickle charge", even though it never shows it's charging. For
instance, if it is left plugged in over night, the battery percentage will
raise about 10%.

it's going to get used now ;-)
